melbourne has no lack of festivities, events, or reasons to be celebratory. the recent moomba waterfest is one such example.

because the commonwealth games took place this time last year, all festivities were commonwealth games oriented. there were still fireworks at the opening and closing ceremonies of the commonwealth games among other events, but of a different nature from moomba.

in fact this fireworks experience is like none other that i’ve ever witnessed because of the close proximity to the crowd of which the fireworks were ignited. the innocuous small boxes scattered in the middle of the yarra didn’t seem like they could contain all that power that soon ensued.
