in my research for an essay on Shakespeare, i had to take time to chuckle at this irony. imagine listening to Rev. Hooker at the pulpit. perhaps in those times, “hooker” did not refer to “whore” as in our modern day vernacular. in another few centuries, who knows which next word or name might take on a vulgar meaning down the road? maybe your name?
