death by paper cut

{October 31, 2006}   fight club

i’m about to start my 2000 word essay on fight club (comparing how the film adapts the written text to comment on masculinity, memory and wounding) for this module. but let me first gush on how clever the film is. until i read about it, i never spotted the playfully spliced in frame of tyler durden aka brat pitt. after i was aware of it, i spot that four times, hopefully that was all there is to it.

the basic Fn-Prt-Sc function didn’t work and since i didn’t know about the inbuilt print screen function within windvd, i resorted to the archaic way of capturing an image i.e. with the use of my digicam.

consider the reflection of myself taking the shot as a postmodernist device that self-reflexively inscribes a self-conscious anti-hegemonic discourse.

just before tyler durden formally appears to jack (edward norton) he is actually seen here (extreme right) in an advertisement that jack watches in his hotel room.
